A man has been charged with impregnating his 13-year-old stepdaughter in court.

Gregory Mwatu Munyao alias Boniface, a 36-year-old man, has been charged with defiling and impregnating his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Munyao is alleged to have committed the crime in their home in Kasarani, Nairobi, during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The charging sheet read as follows:

“You are accused with intentionally and unlawfully using your genital organ to penetrate the genital organs of INI, a child aged 13 years, on several dates between March 2020 and June 18, 2020, at Kasarani Nairobi.”

The suspect denied having carnal knowledge of his stepdaughter when he appeared before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe of the Milimani Law Courts.
Munyao distanced himself from the crime and instead recounted how he attempted to reprimand her.

He stated,

“I warned my wife not to let our daughter, who was in class 7 at Kasarani Primary School, come home late from school,” I said.

The defendant further told the court that he paid his step-school daughter’s bills even though she was still living with her grandmother before enrolling at Kasarani.

The girl, who has now given birth to twins, testified in court that her father, who sneaks into her room, undresses her, and sleeps with her, always threatens to murder her if she tells her mother.

Her mother discovered the pregnancy, according to the court. The girl’s mother reportedly went to a nearby drugstore and purchased a pregnancy test kit to confirm her suspicions.

Her 13-year-old daughter admitted everything after the pregnancy was confirmed. The youngster was then brought to a neighboring hospital for treatment before being taken to the Kasarani police station to report the crime.
